β€˜A time of peace and care’: Holiday message from Principal Alexandra Gillespie

β€œIt's more than just OK to pause and rest; it's the good and right thing to do”

In a holiday message to the community, Alexandra Gillespie, University of Toronto vice-president and principal of ΗΡΧΣΦ±²₯ Mississauga, wished β€œshining moments of celebration, love and joy” to students, alumni, staff, faculty and librarians.

β€œThis is a time of peace and care – and a time to take a breath,” Gillespie said. β€œIt's more than just OK to pause and rest; it's the good and right thing to do.”

Gillespie, a professor of medieval and Renaissance literature, noted that the winter break also marks the beginning of a six-month sabbatical during which she will focus on her research. During her leave, Ian Orchard, a professor emeritus who previously served as ΗΡΧΣΦ±²₯ vice-president and principal of ΗΡΧΣΦ±²₯ Mississauga, will step back into the role in an acting capacity.

β€œHere's to friends, family and bright holidays together,” Gillespie said. β€œI hope that yours are filled with all the people who matter most to you.”
