Joseph Heath and Milica Radisic awarded Killam Research Fellowships

For their exceptional scholarship, Joseph Heath of the Faculty of Arts & Science and Milica Radisic of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering have each received a Killam Research Fellowship from .

鈥淐ongratulations to Professor Radisic and Professor Heath," said Professor Vivek Goel, the University of Toronto's vice-president, research and innovation and strategic initiatives. 鈥淭hese fellowships are an important recognition of their work 鈥 and I would like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts and the Killam Trusts for their continuing support of our scholars.鈥

Professor Radisic, of the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering and the department of chemical engineering, holds the Canada Research Chair in Functional Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering. She has made transformational advances in tissue engineering that have resulted in new methods for growing human tissue in the lab.

Professor Heath, of the department of philosophy, is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a former recipient of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellowship and the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing. His research focuses on social and political philosophy, business ethics, moral philosophy and distributive justice.

Killam Research Fellowships support exceptional scholars with grants of $70,000 for each of two years, helping them to pursue projects of broad significance and widespread interest within the disciplines of the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health sciences and engineering.
