Christine Allen elected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering

Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy Professor Christine Allen has been elected to in recognition of her distinguished and continuing achievements in medical and biological engineering.

鈥淚鈥檓 honoured to be elected into the AIMBE College of Fellows and humbled to join this stellar group of leaders who are leveraging scientific discovery to make a meaningful impact on our society,鈥 said Allen, associate vice-president and vice-provost, strategic initiatives at the University of Toronto.

鈥淚鈥檓 tremendously grateful to my lab group, colleagues, advocates and champions for their support 鈥 together let鈥檚 keep advocating for academic research to transform the lives of patients globally.鈥

The College of Fellows comprises the top two per cent of medical and biological engineers. Allen was recognized for her contributions to the development of polymeric micelles and advancement of drug delivery technology in academic and industrial research.

鈥淗er research in drug delivery and disease diagnostics is not only driving knowledge and innovation, she鈥檚 also training the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists who will transform how diseases are diagnosed and treated, ultimately improving the health of Canadians and people around the world,鈥 said Professor St茅phane Angers, associate dean, research at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.
